A scan to look in detail at the size, shape and form of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and the volume of the prostate. This scan applies to males, especially those over 60. It can be useful to ascertain potential causes of bladder concerns, problems with pain caused by obstructions or stones, effects of urinary tract infections (UTI) and possible changes to the size of the prostate gland. Ultrasound is non-invasive and can provide a highly accurate glimpse into real-time diagnoses to enable a fast and efficient diagnoses to prevent further or continued worries.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing with easy access to the area.
  • Drink clear liquid up to an hour before your scan and try not to empty the bladder

How quickly will I receive my scan images and report?

Following your appointment your medical professional will assess your images and create a report with recommendations where necessary. This can take between 24 and 72 hours. You have the option to pay an additional fee and request a same-day report.

Do I need a medical referral to go ahead with a scan?

Absolutely not. We do welcome those who have been referred to us by their GP, equally we see many who are experiencing pain or concerns and are looking for faster results and care.

Will I be seen by a qualified sonographer?
